Douglass Homes

In 2008, the Douglass Homes computer lab was one of the four computer centers upgraded by the TDF Foundation Grant in partnership with One Economy and the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC). The TDF Foundation Grant provided new computers and software applications, high-speed Internet access, and professional support to the Douglass Lab.
Douglass Homes is a family development of with a blend of working and senior families. Ms. Catherine Jones is the labs full-time coordinator and is dedicated to the residents of the community, providing GED classes for the adults and summer camp opportunities for the children. Ms. Jones provides a safe environment for the children and through the free lunch program in the summer the children receive breakfast and lunch.
TDF Foundation also sponsored a December Holiday Camp for the youth in the Douglass community. The result was a unique environment for children to focus on developing their computing skills, search for jobs, complete homework assignments, and explore their potential and develop their skills in a safe environment.
The Foundation will continue to support this community through calendar year 2010 by providing high-speed Internet service through Verizon.
